The formula

Views needed = round up(revenue target ÷ RPM × 1,000)

Turn a revenue target into a view target using your own RPM. This is planning arithmetic—not a prediction that those views or earnings will occur.

Worked example

How the revenue goal calculation works

To model $1,000 at a hypothetical $3 RPM, divide 1,000 by 3 and multiply by 1,000. Rounding up gives 333,334 views. Over 30 days, that is about 11,112 views per day when rounded up.

Plan a monthly target without promising growth

Use a monthly revenue goal with a monthly RPM assumption, or keep both inputs consistent for another period. Divide the result by your intended publishing days to plan a cadence. The calculation does not model viral distribution, future audience growth or changes in revenue per view.

Revenue is not take-home income

A $1,000 revenue goal does not account for editing, equipment, contractors, taxes or withholding. To plan profit, first estimate the revenue needed to cover costs and your desired profit, then use that total as the target here.

Stress-test the RPM assumption

Try lower and higher RPM values drawn from comparable periods in your own reports. At a lower RPM you need more views for the same goal. Keep Shorts and long-form targets separate, because their revenue mechanics and view denominators differ.

Frequently asked questions

How many views do I need to make $1,000?

At an assumed $3 RPM, at least 333,334 matching views. At $5 RPM, 200,000 views. Neither RPM is a verified market average or guaranteed future rate.

Why does the calculator round up?

A target requires enough whole views to meet or exceed the mathematical amount at the assumed RPM. Rounding down could leave the forecast below the target.

What if my RPM is zero?

A positive revenue goal cannot be reached through a zero-RPM model. Enter a positive RPM to get a finite target; the tool will not display an invented result.
